I'm Being Replaced

My last nursing babe is abandoning me, his Mama.

For the past year, I've been the one to snuggle him, to cuddle him, to nurture him, to provide his very sustenance. And after all that? After middle of the night feedings...after the (ahem) painful adjustment to him discovering his teeth? After all that, he's leaving me. For a plastic bimbo. Her name? Sippy. Sippy Cup, to be exact.

And he's not shy about it. Here he is flaunting his new love right out in the open! How dare he?!

Yeah, I see you, big boy.

What? You think I should try some?

"Just look at it! It's filled with milky goodness!"

No thanks, little buddy. It's all yours. I want no part of this. Just look at him...shameless.

Just the other day, we had some friends over for dinner. They thought watching Thomas drink out of his cup was pretty amusing. In fact, they said it reminded them of this calf (photo from the best blogger and photographer of all time, Pioneer Woman).

Thomas' ears are smaller, but otherwise? I have to agree - there's a remarkable resemblance.

No really, sweetie. It's all yours.

Yes, I know. You think it's the best thing since disposable diapers. Still, I'll pass. Ooo...just look at him bite that sippy! Suddenly, I'm not feeling quite so lonely.

Hey, I know I gave you my blessing, but you could at least pretend to miss me.
