Monday Morning Adventures

How can I have adventures to tell you about when it's not even 10 AM?! Well, I went to Walmart, that's how. Ever notice how there's always a story associated with going to a Walmart store? My husband's uncle from southern California came for a visit one time (S. CA, mind you, he's seen plenty). He went to Walmart, and came back wide eyed and a bit pale. He said "Going to this Walmart is like walking into the Star Wars bar scene!" Some of you will know what he meant...

So we went to Walmart to make some returns. I had tossed a pair of Sammy's shoes in the car to put on her feet when we got to the store...but when I got there, I realized that I had grabbed one of her shoes and one of her big sister's shoes. It was cold out, so I figured one shoe would be better than nothing. Sammy spent the whole shopping trip hollering, "One shoe, mama!" and "Missin' one, missin' one, missin' one!"

I had returns to do, so we headed to the customer service counter, where the lady with the freakishly long cherry red fingernails helped us. It was fascinating to watch her click away at the keyboard with those things! All was going well, until I had to sign the return slip. Just then, long nail lady had to sneeze. She was good enough to turn away...and sneeze...right...into...her...hand. She then turned around with a smile, picked up a pen with THE hand, and handed it to me. Blech. I didn't even have my purse with me, and there was not another pen in sight (believe me, I looked). I finally grabbed the pen with two finger tips and scratched something on the slip and got out of there.

I've never really thought of myself as a germophobe...just reasonably sanitary. But this might have put me over the edge. I might have to start carrying hand sanitizer in every coat pocket I have.

Gotta go take a shower...

Yuck!!! That would have done me in!
From one germophobe to another, cheers!
