Well, I've started a new blog. There. I've told you. It's called "Call Her Skinny", and it's where I'm going to keep track of what I'm doing to try and get this old bod of mine back into shape. Come visit me if you'd like...and leave a comment when you do so I know you've been there.
I've been trying to figure out a way to save this blog permanently in some hard copy format. Anyone have any experience with this?

Check this out! I can't decide if this is "good" or "bad"...my high school English teacher would probably be pleased. But my college technical writing prof? Probably not! Maybe I should write a few posts about differential equations, mechanics of materials, or fluid dynamics...bore you all to sleep (and possibly make my shriveled little brain explode)...but hey, my "readability" might get "better" or "worse"?
I am so excited about the "Christian Moms Blog Ring"! There are 6 of us so far...a neat group of ladies...I've been enjoying clicking around on their sites. It sure is handy to have us all in the same "ring". I can just click from one to the next. Simple pleasures, I suppose :)

Are you looking for my pretty new blog layout? Yeah, well, I'm having some technical difficulties...also known as operator error...ALSO known as I'm a complete moron. Ugh. Some days I feel like a total rock star - on top of the world and can do anything I put my mind to. Other days...like today? Not so much.
I have a desperate call for help sent out to Saint Jen (my glorious, marvelous, and wonderfully talented) blog designer. I hope she's as forgiving and compassionate as she is talented. If so, we should be back up in no time.
This calls for popcorn. With about a whole stick of melted butter on it. And my droopy-butt comfy pants. And maybe some chocolate. Yes, chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate.
UPDATE: I'm back up and running already! That only took about an hour! Have I mentioned lately just how amazingly awesome Jen at Blue Yonder Designs is? If you want a blog designed (and rescued when you are a doofus like yours truly)...Jen is your gal.

Is anyone still with me through all this shuffling of blog location…stuff (oh, look at my restraint)??
As you can see, I’ve switched over to Wordpress. I made the switch because I liked the clean look of the layout. I like a 3 column template, which I couldn’t find for Blogger. I love the option to add pages…great for organizing. BUT (and it’s a painful “but” after working on this for so many hours)…
…But there are some important features (or lack of features) that I didn’t know about when I signed up. I thought I’d share for two reasons: first, if anyone is considering a blog, this info would be helpful, and second, I’m hoping you’ll understand my frustration and therefore not hate my guts if I decide to just go back to good ol’ Blogger.
So here’s what I’ve learned the hard way:
1. Every now and then an ad will spontaneously appear on my blog…Wordpress does this to try and generate some funds for their “free” blog hosting.
2. I can not do my own advertising. For example…maybe I’d like to do some advertising for my photography…or maybe I’d like to add some relevant advertising from Blogher. Can’t do it. They won’t allow it, and they’ll shut down my blog if I try. (everyone knows how I like being told what to do!)
3. Someday they might offer advertising as one of their approved widgets…which would be an upgrade I’d have to pay for.
4. I had to pay for an upgrade to get my domain mapped to this location.
5. I had to pay for an upgrade to be able to post videos.
Well…that’s it for now. Did I mention that my post-partum hormones are causing my hair to fall out. I just can’t afford to lose any more! Therefore…well, I haven’t decided for sure…but I’m pretty sure I’ll be switching back to Blogger.

I've mentioned recently that I'm switching to Typepad...scratch that!
I spent lots of time last night just trying to install some of the features I have here. It was hard! I also realized that it's much more complicated to add video, which is important for me. So I'm staying put....at least that's my decision for today ;)
Just thought you might like to know.
Hey- I've had two interesting comments to my last post about leaving Blogger, so I thought I'd elaborate a tad.
I love the site that Alicia referred me to. I think I'll add it to my list of regulars to visit, in fact. It's blissandthebattlefield.com - check it out! I mostly like it for it's content and honesty (keep writing Elisabeth...it's a blessing!). I also like it for how it's organized and easy to navigate (as Alicia said). I also think that Wordpress is free (or can be). Shoulda checked that one out I guess. The only input I'd ever heard about WP is that, although it looks really great for the reader, it's not all that simple or intuitive for the blogger to use. That's why I didn't go with WP.
I went with Typepad because...well, I have to pay for it, and we all know that the best things in life cost money, right? Just kidding. But...not really! I must admit...that very warped belief is somewhere deep in my heart. Maybe that's a post for another day...
The real reason I went with Typepad is that most of the blogs that I really love to read, have the best "look" to them, and the easiest navigation...they're all Typepad blogs. Maybe that has more to do with the blogger than the host...in which case, I just wasted a bunch of money. But maybe, just maybe, a better "look" will satisfy me. I've been so frustrated with blogging lately. Can't really put my finger on why. Probably has more to do with trying to impress my "cyber friends" instead of pleasing God...hmmm...another post?
Is it hard to swith? It was a process, that's true. But Typepad gave very clear and detailed instructions, so it wasn't too bad. Aside from losing some of my comments associated with my posts, it seems everything went smoothly (I'm thankful the pictures transferred).
The easier you do it, the better. I now have over 100 posts that seem to be formatted strangely. I also would like to reorganize my categories. And I'll have to go out and get all my little widgets again too. Like I said, if you're looking to change...do it sooner than later.

Hi everyone! Do you ever have times in your life when you just feel like...I don't know...being quiet? I've been in that mood for the past few days. I've felt like I just want to be quiet and observe and listen...and just enjoy. Probably a welcome treat for my friends and family...but not so good when you're trying to come up with something to write about!
It's a typical weekend around here. Yep, still in my jammies well into the afternoon. Hubby is designing, building, and installing some beautiful custom cabinetry in our living room (with lots of "help" from the kids, of course).
His project has really tested our "cash only" system. It seems that he keeps having to run to the Depot (we call it "Home Depper In Debt" instead of "Home Depot") for another piece of wood...a hinge...some stain...whatever. And we keep having the "what money are we going to use" conversation. On one level it's really irritating because life seemed so much easier when we just put everything on the card and dealt with it later. But it is SO liberating paying cash, and knowing that when we walk out of the store, it's PAID FOR. So yesterday we spent an hour with our change jar...sorting, counting, and rolling coins. We had hundreds of dollars in there! That should be enough to finish the project :)
I suppose if we were really disciplined, we'd put that change toward our goal of being debt free. But we're not, and I don't feel one ouce of guilt over it! Hey, you gotta live too.
So I should probably tell all you faithful readers out there (all 6 of you) what I've been up to in my little blogging world.
I've been working behind the scenes to change the location of my blog. I've been so irritated with Blogger lately...I can't get it to look the way I want it to, spell check doesn't work (and I NEED it!), the spacing on my posts is all messed up no matter what I try. So I'm jumping ship. I'm going to Typepad. I'll let you know when I have everything switched over. I'll wait at least until the giveaway is done, because some of my comments don't seem to be importing to my new location.
Well, I'm going to...gasp!...go take a shower and get dressed. But it's not even 3 pm yet, you say? I know! What an achiever I am!
