If I stop to think of all the money I could have made on all the stuff I have donated over the years, I get a little regretful. Oh well. I'll leave the garage sales to you professionals.

My mother-in-law introduced me to NOT marking stuff several years ago and it's wonderful. She also taught me that garage sales are about getting rid of stuff, NOT making money. Since I picked up those two philosophies I make a ton more money at every garage sale I have. And...I'm not nearly as stressed out! So glad you found this out as well...

My daughter(23) and I had a yard sale today. I also placed a free ad on Craigslist, and we tried to do things the simple way. We only made about $75, but sold all the bigger stuff we had. It was about 98 degrees outside and I am exhausted, but we took all the remaining items to Goodwill right away. My garage is cleaner and she doesn't have to move a bunch of stuff that she doesn't want anymore cross country next month. That's a good thing.

It makes it a little less painful to let go of tho...

Definitely sounds pain-free! I just had one myself, and it wasn't bad, except we had a mighty cold weekend.
